About Artist

My name is Dr. David Maldon and I live in Johnson City, Tennessee with my wife Julie and our 2 dogs, Shadow and Lexie. I am an Associate Professor of Anatomy and Physiology at Northeast State Community College. I am also a Chiropractor and continue to see patients a couple of days a week. I am board certified in Spinal Trauma and Pain Management.

I started carving in November of 2005 when I took a class at a local Woodcraft store. During the past couple of years I have taken many carving classes with some excellent instructors. Some of the instructors I have taken classes with are Pete LeClair, Gary Falin, Phil & Vicky Bishop, Wayne Shinlever, Tom Wolfe, Desiree Hajny and many others. My carvings focus mainly on Caricature Carving.

In 2007 I started to compete in woodcarving contests throughout the southeast. I have received many ribbons with 54 of them being first place. I have also won 10 "Best Of" ribbons. I look forward to meeting many of you as I travel to competitions this year.

I try to get at least one carving done per week, sometimes more. Please look around my website and at my carving pictures. I will be adding pictures of my carvings every couple of weeks.
